St. Valentine in Dublin
As Valentines Day approaches I thought I'd try and find out a bit more about the man. So we'll start at the end of his life .... Did you know that St. Valentine is reportedly buried in Dublin! The Carmalite Church in Whitefriar St. in Dublin City Centre claims to hold the remains of the saint. How the remains got to be there is quite interesting. One of the Carmelites attached to the church went to Rome in 1835 and he impressed the pope so much with his preaching skills - obviously the Irish Gift of the Gab - that the then pope decided to gift his church with the body of St. Valentine! The remains were duly transfered to Whitefriar St. Church from Rome in 1836 and have been there ever since. Nice gift!
