Drink........

Hi, Last weeks poll was about what you would least like to give up and in true Irish fashion Drink came in at number one at 26%! I think it is a reflection on our society and how it has changed over the last 10 years as the next one you would least like to give up is the Internet and TV came in last at just 11%.

This weeks poll is about how long you talk to someone online before dating them - I'm really interested in seeing the results of that.

Last weeks winner of the best comment was Jemimapuddleduck - congratulation JPD!

We have busy week of events ahead of us this week with the Meet and Greet on Wednesday and the Limerick night out and Dublin Bank holiday get to gether on Saturday so I hope plenty of you will attend. Talk to you soon.

Eternal Messaging

I was amazed last week, when I was chatting to a few members, that they were messaging away to their hearts content, but had not actually gone on any dates. And so I got to thinking, how long do you email someone before meeting up? I would have thought that after a maximum of about 3 or 4 days messaging someone you really do know whether or not you'd like to take it to the next stage and actually meet. And you do have lots to talk about when you meet because you've been messaging eachother so you know quite a lot about one another.

I know for some, it can be a bit daunting to ask someone out. And I know that a lot of old fashioned values still hold true and many women wait for the guy to do the asking out bit. But guys believe me, if she didn't want to meet you, chances are you wouldn't still be messaging eachother. So any of you guys who are feeling a little unsure - bite the bullet - ask her on a date.
And girls if you're fed up waiting for him to do the asking - then you do the asking.

I'd love to hear your comments on this one.

Time Travel

Time Travel is the most popular super power according to last week's poll. 43% of our members voted this as the super power they would most like to have. I wonder if it was just one way which would you rather - to go forward or backwards in time?
Only 25% chose mind reading - I'd love to be able to mind read - in the same way Mel Gibson in "What women want" it would be brilliant - you'd always say the right thing at the right time - perfect.

This week's poll is about what you would least like to give up. I'm not sure which I'd chose as I'd hate to give up any of them.

The winner of last weeks comment of the week was Tazzie. Remember best comment of the week wins a months free membership to Maybefriends.com - Great People. Great Friends. Great Dates.

The mysterious type wins

The result of last weeks poll is that 66% of you would rather go out with someone shy and quiet rather than someone loud and outgoing. So being the life and soul of the party might get you plenty of attention and friendships but it won't help you in the dating game. Being quiet and mysterious it seems is far more appealing to the opposite sex. So if you're the loud outgoing type try dumbing down a bit and see what happens!
Congratulations to JPD who won the best comment last week for her observations on dilating pupils!

In case any of you missed it MaybeFriends.com featured on Dave Fanning last week both myself and Jenny - one of our brides to be were interviewed - here's the link: http://www.rte.ie/arts/2008/0508/drivetimewithdave.html

Eyes are the window of the Soul - and the heart...

According to last weeks poll the feature most attracitve to our members is the eyes - 41% of you voted that eyes were the no. 1 feature with Smile coming in 2nd with 21% and the face at 18%.

The eyes, of course, are said to be the windows of the soul, and with good reason. Look into them and you'll soon know if attraction is mutual. Eye contact lasts longer and the eyes are more aflame if you find someone attractive. The reason pupils dilate is because of adrenilin which is caused by either excitment or fear! Better hope it's the former:-)

A psychologist called Neisser found that when shown two pictures of the same woman, with the pupils artificially dilated in one picture, people rated the doctored version of the woman as more attractive - without being able to say why. So, if your heart jumps into your mouth when you spot someone you fancy, smile in the knowledge that the adrenaline making you weak at the knees is also helping you look your best.

120,000 weddings through online dating!

While trawling through the numerous sites about online Dating, I came across an article about how successful online dating really is. It is estimated that online dating is responsible for 120,000 weddings a year! And 20 million people use dating sites every month.

According to the article the more honest and open you are in your profile and communication on the site the more chance there is of the relationship being a success. Also the longer couples communicate through a site before meeting the better the first encounter is.

So there you have it, perfect fairy tale endings - I'm delighted that MaybeFriends.com is playing its part in contributing to the 120,000 weddings a year.

I look forward to your comments - remember best comment of the week wins a months free membership on MaybeFriends.com - Great People. Great Friends. Great Dates.
