It's all about Long-term
The results of last weeks onsite poll were unquestionable - 91% of you said you would prefer a long term relationship to a casual fling. It is heartening to see that almost everyone on the site is after the same thing.
I was talking to someone last week who made what I think is a very true observation: Lots of people get into a long term relationship when they are relatively young - late teens/early 20's, then, when they leave college and are settled in a career, wham - the relationship breaks up, and there they are - mid to late 20's flung unceremoniously into the world of dating - a world they know little or nothing about. The guys think this is the best thing ever - suddenly they are free to finally sow their wild oats - and they love it. The girls enjoy it at first but then start hearing a vague biological tick tock that builds up as time goes by and suddenly becomes the focal point in their lives, so by the time they are in their 30's the alarm bell is starting to off way too frequently. But the guys don't reach that stage of wanting something longterm for some time later than the girls and so are not always ready to commit when the girls most want them to. I think there is a certain amount of truth in this but I think that in the back of their minds guys do want a long-term relationship but just not today!
I'd love to know what you think on this subject - remember best comment of the week wins a months free membership on Maybefriends.com - the Home of Irish Dating

So who was that lucky winner of last week's free month's membership?

Irish Ninja
Hi Irish Ninja, last weeks winner was blue_eyes_black_hair however, as she met her fiance on Maybefriends.com she will be passing the free month on to one of her friends!
As a male who is no longer 21 and has had a few fantastic relationships etc in my time,
It would be great to have a long term relationship again with the right person. but would prefer to be alone than in a very bad relationship just for the sake of it.
I suppose until you go out for a while with someone, you wont know if you will grow together for a great future, or find ultimately that you are not suited for longevity,
I guess for anyone male or female the question is how long do you wait, tick tock before committing fully or looking for new
